- Jul 07, 2019 If you permanently load web pages with the Google Chrome web browser, the message 'Resolving proxy' or 'Chrome Downloading Proxy Script' can appear in the lower left corner of the browser window. If you find your chrome running too slow or chrome using 100% processor power then we have a detailed guide on it.
Aug 10, 2017 This tutorial is how to fix and get past the message and turn it off so you never get it again. I was working on Windows 10 but it also works on Apple's Mac, Windows 7 and windows 8. Click the Chrome menu button on the browser toolbar. Select Settings. Click Show advanced settings. In the “Network” section, click Change proxy settings. This will open the Windows Internet Properties dialog. Click LAN settings. Deselect the “Automatically detect settings” checkbox.

Discovered a work-around, which may be helpful in diagnosing the issue.
I disable the Wi-Fi adapter. (I'm on a laptop with both Wi-Fi and LAN.)
That's it - the 'proxy script' prompt immediately disappears, as Chrome connects via the LAN instead.
Once it's connected, I can re-enable the Wi-Fi and everything is back to normal.
Since you have a confirmed that you use both Wifi and LAN, I assume this is the issue you are facing and it is known chrome bug.

If it is not available, your observation might be explained. To avoid this set the proxy to ‘direct connection’ or adjust the proxy.pac file on the proxy.

Chrome Gets Stuck On Downloading Proxy S…
Wait, I was just wondering why LAN Settings from Internet explorer are located in Chrome settings? |

Update - I am no longer seeing this issue with the latest release from Microsoft. For me, it seemed the real culprit was that while connected via LAN the WLAN would flicker on and off, trying to connect, causing Chrome to not be able to get a stable connection. I still do not know what was causing this issue. |
