I have a laptop with a battery damage. I plug to energy only once a day. When I turn on always the time is wrong.

Apr 20, 2018  In Windows Server 2008 R2 and in Windows 7, the Service Control Manager is extended so that a service can be automatically started and stopped when a specific system event or a specific trigger occurs on the system. This mechanism is called a service trigger event. A service can register to start or to stop when a service trigger event occurs. Manual means that the service will start only when Windows or another service needs it, or if you invoke something to start the service. You can use the command net start servicename from the command line to enable a manual service. When you reboot, the service will again be off until you restart it. Automatic services start when the OS boots. Manual services do not. Triggers can be added to services to make them start on some event, such as an ETW event, or a USB device being plugged in, etc. Triggers can be added to either Manual or Automatic services. An example of the trigger(s) on an Automatic (Trigger Start) service. Manual (Trigger Start) - This is a version of Manual mode that allows Windows to start a service when specifically called and Microsoft’s answer to “too many services running all the time”. Manual - Manual mode allows Windows to start a service when needed. However, very few services will start up when required in Manual mode.

Searching I found that the problem is 'Windows Time' service is set to Manual (Trigger Start)' and the solution is just set it to 'Automatic'. I dit change it, but everytime I turn on, the laptop has a wrong time and the 'Windows Time' service is again in Manual.

You are looking at 2 different places.

  • in services.msc the service called 'Windows Time' is indeed always 'manual trigger start', as it only needs to run when it is required by the control panel.
  • The suggestion you have found is ACTUALLY in the control panel:

You can use the new configurator to see if this is enabled (it will be by default):

  1. Touch/Left-Click the clock (bottom right of your screen).
  2. Click the blue text at the bottom: 'Data and Time settings'.
  3. The first option should be 'toggled on': 'Set time automatically'.

Windows Update Manual Trigger

You probably find it already is, and just you want your PC to IMMEDIATELY update time, instead of the seemingly random intervals that windows chooses. The simplest way is to write a script:

Once you are happy, save that code as a batch and run it as administrator.

Services Windows Update Manual Trigger Start

*You could then just place a shortcut (run as admin) in your startup items folder

If you would like to test it first open a command-prompt (as admin): press Winkey + X, to bring up advanced menu, now just tap tap A or choose 'Command Prompt (Admin)'.

I think maybe, just maybe, the baterry of BIOS is done and you have to replace it. It happened in the past to me, but it's once every five years situation only.

You know, if that battery has no charge at all, every time you shutdown your laptop, everything in BIOS (Including the date and time) is resetted.
